Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge Activities

Located above the Chulitna River, Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge is surrounded by majestic Denali National Park.

The lodge boasts incredible views of Mt. McKinley, called Denali - “The Great One” - in the Athabascan language

Lodge-based Mt. McKinley activities abound. Guests can enjoy nature hikes, rafting, and wagon rides. A few minutes away are opportunities for flightseeing, horseback riding, or river rafting. Ride a motorcoach to the town of Talkeetna, which means the “meeting of three rivers.” Princess guests arrive or depart from the Talkeetna Depot via the Mt. McKinley Express. Talkeetna was an important trading community in the early pioneer days. Natives, trappers, and merchants used the rivers for transportation by boat in the summer and dog sleds in the winter.

Today, Talkeetna is the base camp for climbers testing their skills against Mt. Mckinley, and it is also the jumping off point for many of our excursions. Learn More About: Alaska Land Excursions - Sightseeing Tours

From the moment you arrive at Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge you know you're somewhere special. The Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge sits on the banks of the Chulitna River, in Denali State Park, on the south side of Mt. McKinley.

Mt. McKinley Princess

Wilderness Lodge

The natives named it Denali, “The Great One.” And
living up to its name, there’s truly no place else
like it on earth. Alaska’s Denali National Park
spans six million acres of forests, tundra, glaciers
and mountains — more land than the state of
Massachusetts. Yet only 90 miles of main road
traverses the park, leaving the moose, caribou,
sheep and bears free to roam a wondrous
expanse untouched by man.
And there, towering above it all, is majestic
Mt. McKinley, the highest point in all of North
America. At 20,320 feet, its summit beckons
more than 1,000 climbers each year who brave
the elements for the chance to scale its imposing
face. Princess guests also enjoy equally dazzling
views of this magnificent peak — from the
comfort of our luxurious Mt. McKinley Princess
Wilderness Lodge.® It’s the ultimate Alaska
escape.
